Training Evening League Series Info
The Summer League will be a MapRun League this year with the opportunity to run the course either on the Wednesday evening or at any time within that week.
45 minute score course - find as many checkpoints as you can within the 45 minute time limit. Courses are being planned, where areas allow, to enable the faster runners to cover 10 km. 20 points per control and 10 point deduction for every minute (or part thereof) that you are late.
Please note that controls will not be placed. You can run the course traditionally without a smart phone but you will not be eligible for the league. Paper maps will be available for all entering on the Wednesday evening and when the covid rules allow there will be a social debrief in the host pub afterwards.
See Stephen Borrill's article in JabberWAOC on how to use a MapRun app.
There are leagues for Men and Women, with prizes for the winners. Your best 5 runs count.
MapRun League events:
- 5th May, Impington and Histon
- 19th May, Milton
- 2nd June, Newmarket
- 16th June, Cherry Hinton
- 7th July, Standon Meadows
- 21st July, Shelfords and Stapleford
- 18th August, Cambourne
- 25th August, Huntingdon
An event or two more will be added soon.
Directions / Parking
Free parking at High Street car park, which is approximately opposite Barclays Bank.
The start is on the village green besides the duck pond platform as shown on the above map. Please be careful when running the course not to run back across the green before you are ready to finish.
The 45 minute score course has 30 controls and the route to reach all the controls is 13 km so it should not be possible for anyone to get all the controls.
WAOC members: £4 senior; £2 student
Non-members: £5 senior; £3 student
Registration and Start Times
This event will be slightly different to ensure covid social distancing. Still a 45 minute score course but the starts will be spaced between 18:30 and 19:15 on the Wednesday evening.
