Training Evening League Series Info
The Summer League will be a MapRun League this year with the opportunity to run the course either on the Wednesday evening or at any time within that week. All running abilities are welcome and no orienteering experience is needed.
45 minute score course - find as many checkpoints as you can within the 45 minute time limit. Your smartphone buzzes when you reach each checkpoint. Courses are being planned, where areas allow, to enable the faster runners to cover 10 km. 20 points per control and 10 point deduction for every minute (or part thereof) that you are late.
Please note that controls will not be physically placed. You can run the course traditionally without a smartphone but you will not be eligible for the league. Paper maps will be available for all entering on the Wednesday evening and when the COVID rules allow there will be a social debrief in the host pub afterwards.
See the MapRunners website on how to use MapRun. The MapRun apps, MapRun6 or MapRunG for Garmin watches, are available in the Play Store and App Store.
There are leagues for Men and Women, with prizes for the winners. Your best 5 runs count.
New and not sure what to bring? We'd love you to join in! You can wear your usual trainers and running kit. We'll have somewhere you can leave a bag while you run. Finally, bring a well-charged smartphone - if you can, download the free app 'MapRun6' in advance, but if you arrive a bit early we can help with that.

The picturesque Rib valley in rural Hertfordshire should make an interesting area for this score event but do remember to bring spare socks and shoes if you want to cross the river and also full leg cover is strongly recommended.
