This was the club's first event using the new map of Bar Hill and Dry Drayton. All but one control feature was a lamp post which may give the impression that the whole task would be fairly simple. It did simplify things for me, and saved a considerable amount of time on the day as the council had already very kindly placed numbers on every post. Only posts chosen as controls were marked on the map and there were necessarily no check codes, so runners had to decide on the correct post from the position of the circle on the map. Unfortunately this proved to be very difficult for some (well, the majority really), as only six people made no mistakes. A two minute penalty has been strictly imposed for each error and all the results below show adjusted times where appropriate: I don't know if the event may have appeared unchallenging or whether the freezing northerly wind was responsible for the disappointingly low attendance. Well done and many thanks to the brave pioneers who did so willingly step into previously uncharted territory. I hope that you found it interesting and challenging, but most of all I hope that you all enjoyed yourselves! Thanks are also due to Hally for giving me the incentive to finally complete the map which Neil started at least two years ago, and special thanks to Marlene for coming to help on the night and also for putting up with being largely ignored for days on end while I did the mapping.
