The turnout was terrific – it was good to see so many of you, especially
after a torrential downpour earlier in the afternoon. The weather was,
however, kind to us, a feeling some of you might not have about the course…
The Psych-O course certainly seemed to confuse quite a few of
you. This was at least partly due to one of the Orange course
controls being (in retrospect) too close to one of the controls on this
course. As a result, several were distracted by controls belonging to
the Orange course, and so it would be unfair to disqualify those not finding
all the Psych-O controls. I have simply added a time penalty for each
control not found (plus a bonus to those who ran a “clean” course),
calculated as best I could, based on the maps collected from finishers.
The Orange course was more straightforward – I hope those newcomers to
orienteering who tried this enjoyed their course and decide to try a colour
coded event in the Autumn.
