Report

Thanks to everyone who turned out to the event at Cambourne. I’m really pleased we managed to bullseye a nice day in the midst of an otherwise rainy September, and that so many people came out to run. It was really great to see such a high number of young competitors out and about and I hope you all enjoyed it.

I heard plenty of complimentary comments about the courses as people arrived at download, and everyone seemed to be smiling when they came in so thankyou to Kez for planning such a great range of courses and heading out in the dark this morning to get the controls out! I didn’t hear of any mishaps with marauding robots on the streets of Cambourne, which is always good news!

Obviously a huge thanks go to all the WAOC members (and their families) who helped before, during and after the event to keep it all run so smoothly. Your help is very much valued and appreciated.

PS - Please come along to our Park-O events which start with our Lammas Land and Coe Fen event on 26th October.

Terrain and map details

Starting and finishing in the Cambourne Business Park, courses explore a mix of the parks and green spaces of Cambourne, along with urban sections for courses from Light Green upwards. Due to road crossings on these longer courses, unaccompanied U16s (on the day of the event) are restricted to White, Yellow and Orange. Yellow and Orange courses include a marshalled road crossing.

Cambourne is mainly flat, so there is minimal elevation change across the area, with exception of the country park.

Only main paths are mapped in open areas. Other paths may appear and disappear according to the season.

Course maps 1:10,000 with 5m contours, drawn to ISOM 2017-2.
