Planner's Comments
Thank you for all the positive feedback regarding the new map and the courses. I'm sorry that the very late minor map correction, a blocked alleyway, wasn't conveyed to everyone in the start lanes.
It's a bit nerve-racking when people finish and exclaim 'where's the planner' as I'm not sure if I'm about to be praised or severely berated. It seems most people enjoyed the route choice challenges I tried to create among Dunmow's old town centre and interconnected housing estates. Dunmow is only just big enough for the longer courses but I did try to ensure you didn't go along the same road in the same direction more than once. Many thanks to my controller, Mike Bennett, for his wisdom and patience with a rookie planner. I've learnt a lot planning this event.
Please take a few minutes to add your course to RouteGadget, I am very interested to see which way people decided to go.

Organiser's Comments
Great Dunmow is a newly mapped area and it was great to see people turning out to enjoy it. Thankfully the weather was kind to us creating lovely conditions to run in. Thanks to Ian Smith (planning) and Mike Bennett (controlling) for using Great Dunmow's alleyways and hidden corners to create courses that, despite a fairly small town, were satisfyingly difficult. And thanks to the WAOC helpers who are so essential to making events happen.

Registration and Start Times
Starts: 10:30am until 12:30pm. The start is approximately 800m walk from the Leisure centre alongside the B1008. There is one road crossing, which will be marshalled. The Start and Finish are 50m apart on opposite sides of a wooded ditch. Children should be accompanied to and from the start/finish area. We will operate punching starts. Controls (apart from Start and Finish) will be set in SIAC beacon mode to allow non-contact punching.
Terrain and map details
All maps are 1:4000
Courses 1-6 will use pictorial descriptions, course 7 has text descriptions.
Unfortunately, due to space restrictions, course 1 will not have control descriptions printed on the map, all other courses will have control descriptions on the map.
Loose control descriptions for all courses will be provided in the start lanes.
There are some areas of dark green impassable vegetation marked on the map, as this is an urban event this MUST NOT be crossed.
Great Dunmow is a small market town with a number of medieval buildings. The courses visit the centre of the town as well as the surrounding residential areas. There is limited traffic in the residential areas on Sunday mornings but most roads do feed into the B1008 which may have more traffic. Safe crossing points for the B1008 are mapped but YOU MUST TAKE CARE WHEN CROSSING ALL ROADS.
Junior Course 7 (MW12-) is entirely in parkland with no road crossings. Course 6 (MW16-) crosses some cul-de-sacs and minor roads where minimal traffic is expected but does also have one busy road crossing which will be marshalled and timed-out outbound and use a zebra crossing (also timed-out) on the return.
Dog restrictions
This event is not suitable for dogs
Facilities: Indoor toilets are available.
Seedy Blenders café in the Leisure centre will be open selling hot and cold drinks and snacks.
The Leisure centre has a swimming pool which we are expecting to be open.
An unmanned clothing dump will be provided readily accessible approaching the start and leaving the finish.
