Report

Thanks to everyone for braving the furious wind to come to Wimpole. This is equally as true for our fantastic volunteers; putting the tents up was hard work as was stopping them blowing away afterwards.

It was a pleasure to give out our first WAOC drawstring bags as prizes for Park-O passport holders who'd done 5 events. If Wimpole was your first event, as there are 4 more Park-Os left in this academic year, there's still time to get your bag.

Sorry for the slight delay in publishing these results, some club members went straight from Wimpole to the British Night Championships before competing in the Chiltern Challenge on Sunday. Perhaps we'll see some of our newcomers at such events in a few years' time.

Before our next Park-O, we have a forest event at Rowney Warren on 8th March. The White, Yellow and Orange courses at Rowney will be similar to the Short/Medium/Long courses at Park-O

Course Information

We always offer the following 3 courses at each Park-O event:

  • Short     ~ 1km Very easy   (Comparable to a "White" course at a regular O event)
  • Medium ~ 2km Easy           (Comparable to a "Yellow" course at a regular O event)
  • Long      ~ 3km Medium

Sometimes we may add an Extra Long course, which would be similar technically to the Long course, but maybe 5km distance.

If you want to know more about how we grade courses as "Easy", "Medium" etc., look for the "Colour Coded Course Standards" section in our beginners' guide.
