Alex goes international!
Alex Wetherill, our Junior Team Captain, has been selected to run for England in the Interland International orienteering competition to be held in Ardennes in France, in March 2019.
WAGAL Winners for 2018League scores now finalised after Rowney
The Wagal Scoreboard for 2018 is now final, with points awarded for the Rowney Warren event on 25th November now included.

Our Donation to Headway CambridgeshireCheque presented at the Wandlebury ParkO
At our ParkO event at Wandlebury on 10th November, we were finally able to present our nominated charity, Headway Cambridgeshire, with the proceeds from our St Neots sprint event held earlier in the year.
Monthly Newsletter
We are now issuing a monthly newsletter by email, giving a list of upcoming WAOC events and activities, with brief details of other events in the region and nationally, as well as a summary of recent news items from the website. This is distinct from our award winning club magazine, JabberWAOC. You do not have to be a member to sign up to receive the newsletter. If you wish to be added to the recipient list (which is not shared or used for any other purpose) just send us an email with "subscribe" in the title.
Peter Palmer Relays
Many thanks and congratulations to the WAOC Junior Team (and their parents) who travelled to Tankersley Wood in Barnsley at the weekend to take part in the first Daybreak Relay race in the 2018 Peter Palmer Competition for Junior Orienteers.
Revival of the FittestDoes Orienteering make you run faster, or are faster runners naturally selected to become orienteers?
It is striking that out of 350 participants at the Wimpole Parkrun on 8th September, 3 of the top 6 age graded performances (and 4 of the top 11) were achieved by WAOC members.

Details of the Ampthill Park event are now available on the website here, and as a downloadable PDF here.
Don't forget that Ampthill is one of this year's WAGAL league events, the remaining events after Ampthill are High Ash in October and Rowney Warren in November.
Podium place at the British SprintsUrsula earns bronze
Ursula has achieved 3rd place in the W80 class in the British Sprint Champs at Bath University. The campus provided a suitable technical challenge for all competitors, with route choices spanning multiple levels in the central complex.

The Big Weekend 2018Report and results
On Saturday 14th, a number of WAOC members led by Hazel organised a timed maze as part of the Cambridge Big Weekend Sports Zone. Over 40 people took part (mainly children).
